👉What’s on this page?
- Mainly this section deals with the documentation of various videos I watched which went into the fundamental basics around travel and also some stuff about travel planning.
Â
Â
- to explore, get away from the city life; to get surprised; to develop relationships with people; to showoff
- Match the goals of why we travel to the way we travel
Â
- problem: people are constantly on the phone while exploring things of what to post etc Oh! If I pose at this place it might look great on my timeline. For people who travel for work, like vloggers, and travel writers it’s okay as it’s their job!
- ARE GUIDEBOOKS BETTER THAN SMARTPHONES?
- Fake user reviews: The internet is just content and more content. Most of the time all those places you see, people have not really gone there. The reviewers can write reviews without even visiting that place. Try yourself reviewing things on google maps.
- On the other hand for curated content, people have actually gone there and experienced that place. Can be companies, vloggers, or bloggers that you trust!!! Sure there can be paid promotions, that’s again a problem!!!
- Guidebooks have history and culture sections, travel sites don’t!!
- The greatest travel stories are when something surprising happens, you are lost somewhere, it was raining, you met someone cool, you get a piece of really great travel advice. In other words, you make a discovery.
- Great travel stories aren’t when each and everything is planned by you, you read all the reviews and feel prepared for everything and you actually follow the plan perfectly!!! They can be good trips, but not that ones which you will remember and tell when asked about your best travel experience.
- Safety in an unknown place is important.
- If you have four days to travel to some, spend the 3 and half days as you have planned but just try to leave one afternoon where you have no plans at all and just wander around some cool neighborhood!
Â
- The number one cause of death among travelers is Motor vehicle accidents!
- If driving on your own, rent a safer car, say car, bigger car, hire a driver, put on your seatbelt. People think they are exempt from using a seatbelt in other countries where they see people not wearing a seatbelt.
- If going by bus especially to the mountains, don’t take the cheapest bus that looks khatara. Khayi me girna hai kya? Find the safest bus companies. Don't make poor choices for your life!
- If you are renting a motorcycle/scooter, make sure all safety measures are taken.
- Second cause if death is drowning!!
- Be extra careful. Don’t even think about swimming where you don’t know it’s safe
- Don't trust your stupid friend:
- We went there nothing happened. Its totally fine
- Do some research on google, read guidebooks, reviews on Tripadvisor for risk/safety advice like thefts on street, etc
- While leaving the hotel, Is there anything I have with me that I would hesitate to give up to a mugger or a carjacker or whatever?
- Get up-to-date information- Kashmir will not always be unsafe to go!
- Apps like travel smart, travel safe
- Emergency info written phone battery can die like police, medicals
- Evacuation insurance
- Takeaways: Emergency and safety info can be one
